A Living Hope, and a Sure Salvation
1 Peter, R1 an apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who reside as aliens, R2 scattered R3 throughout Pontus, R4 Galatia, R5 Cappadocia, R4 Asia, R4 and Bithynia, R6 who R7 are chosen 2 according to the foreknowledge R8 of God the Father, by R9 the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to F1 obey R10 Jesus Christ and be sprinkled R11 with His blood: May R12 grace and peace be F2 yours in the fullest measure.
3 Blessed R13 be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according R14 to His great mercy has R15 caused us to be born again to a R16 living hope through the resurrection R17 of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance R18 which is imperishable and undefiled and will R19 not fade away, reserved R20 in heaven for you, 5 who are protected R21 by the power of God through R22 faith for a R23 salvation ready to R24 be revealed in the last time. 6 In R25 this you greatly rejoice, even though now for R26 a little while, if R27 necessary, you have been distressed by various R28 trials, F3 7 so that the proof R29 F4 of your faith, being more precious than gold which is F5 perishable, even R30 though tested by fire, may R31 be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the R32 revelation of Jesus Christ; 8 and though R33 you have not seen Him, you love R34 Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full F6 of glory, 9 obtaining as the R35 outcome of your faith the salvation of your F7 souls.
10 As R36 to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied R37 of the grace R38 that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries, 11 seeking F8 to know what person or time the R39 Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted R40 the sufferings of Christ and the glories to F9 follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached R41 the gospel to you by the R42 Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things into which angels R43 long to look. F10
13 Therefore, prepare R44 F11 your minds for action, keep R45 F12 sober in spirit, fix your hope R46 completely on the grace R47 to F13 be brought to you at the R48 revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient R49 F14 children, do not be R50 F15 conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, R51 15 but like R52 F16 the Holy One who called you, be R53 F17 holy yourselves also in R54 all your behavior; 16 because it is written, "YOU R55 SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."
17 If you address R56 as Father the One who impartially R57 judges R58 according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in R59 fear during the time of your stay R60 on earth; 18 knowing that you were not redeemed R61 F18 with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile R62 way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious blood, R63 as of a lamb R64 unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. 20 For He was foreknown R65 before the R66 foundation of the world, but has appeared R67 in F19 these last times for R68 the sake of you 21 who through Him are believers R69 in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave R70 Him glory, so that your faith and hope R71 are in God.
22 Since you have in R72 obedience to the truth purified R73 your souls for a sincere R74 F20 love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the F21 heart, 23 for you have been born R75 again not R76 of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word R77 of God. 24 For, "ALL R78 FLESH IS LIKE GRASS, AND ALL ITS GLORY LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS. THE GRASS WITHERS, AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF, 25 BUT R79 THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER."
And this is the R80 word which was preached F22 to you.
