8:1 - [In Context |Original Greek ]Now, brethren, we {wish to} make known to you the grace of God which has been given R269 in the churches of Macedonia, R270
8:2 - [In Context |Original Greek ]that in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in the wealth R271 of their liberality.
8:3 - [In Context |Original Greek ]For I testify that according R272 to their ability, and beyond their ability, {they gave} of their own accord,
8:4 - [In Context |Original Greek ]begging us with much urging for the favor R273 of F52 participation in the support F53 R274 of the saints, F54
8:5 - [In Context |Original Greek ]and {this,} not as we had expected, F55 but they first gave R275 themselves to the Lord and to us by the R276 will of God.
8:6 - [In Context |Original Greek ]So we urged R277 Titus R278 that as he had previously made R279 a beginning, so he would also complete in you this R280 gracious work as well.
8:7 - [In Context |Original Greek ]But just as you abound R281 in R282 everything, in faith and utterance and knowledge and in all earnestness and in the love F56 we inspired in you, {see} that you abound R283 in this gracious work also.
8:8 - [In Context |Original Greek ]I am R284 not speaking {this} as a command, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity of your love also.
8:9 - [In Context |Original Greek ]For you know the R285 grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though R286 He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.
8:10 - [In Context |Original Greek ]I give R287 {my} opinion in this matter, for this is to your advantage, who were the first to begin a R288 year ago not only to do {this,} but also to desire {to do it.}
8:11 - [In Context |Original Greek ]But now finish doing F57 it also, so that just as {there was} the readiness R289 to desire it, so {there} {may be} also the completion of it by your ability.
8:12 - [In Context |Original Greek ]For if the readiness is present, it is acceptable according R290 to what {a person} has, not according to what he does not have.
8:13 - [In Context |Original Greek ]For {this} is not for the ease of others {and} for your affliction, but by way of equality--
8:14 - [In Context |Original Greek ]at this present time your abundance {being a} {supply} for their R291 need, so that their abundance also may become {a supply} for your R292 need, that there may be equality;
8:15 - [In Context |Original Greek ]as it is written, "HE WHO {gathered} MUCH DID NOT HAVE TOO MUCH, AND HE WHO {gathered} LITTLE HAD NO LACK."
8:16 - [In Context |Original Greek ]But thanks R293 be to God who puts R294 the same earnestness on your behalf in the heart of Titus. R295
8:17 - [In Context |Original Greek ]For he not only accepted our appeal, R296 but being himself very earnest, he has gone to you of his own accord.
8:18 - [In Context |Original Greek ]We have sent along with him the R297 brother whose fame in {the things of} the gospel R298 {has spread} through all R299 the churches;
8:19 - [In Context |Original Greek ]and R300 not only {this,} but he has also been appointed R301 by the churches to travel with us in this R302 gracious work, which is being administered by us for the glory of the Lord Himself, and {to show} our readiness, R303
8:20 - [In Context |Original Greek ]taking F58 precaution so that no one will discredit us in our administration of this generous gift;
8:21 - [In Context |Original Greek ]for we have R304 regard for what is honorable, not only in the R305 sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
8:22 - [In Context |Original Greek ]We have sent with them our brother, whom we have often tested and found diligent in many things, but now even more diligent because of {his} great confidence in you.
8:23 - [In Context |Original Greek ]As for Titus, R306 {he is} my partner R307 and fellow worker among F59 you; as for our brethren, R308 {they are} messengers F60 R309 of the churches, a R310 glory to Christ.
8:24 - [In Context |Original Greek ]Therefore openly F61 before the churches, show F62 them the proof of your love and of our reason R311 for boasting about you.
