"When Moses saw it, he marveled at the sight; and as he approached to look {more} closely, there came the voice of the Lord:

7:32 - [In Context|Original Greek]
'I AM THE GOD OF YOUR FATHERS, THE GOD OF ABRAHAM AND ISAAC AND JACOB.' Moses shook with fear and would not venture to look.

7:35 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"This Moses whom they disowned, R337 saying, 'WHO MADE YOU A RULER AND A JUDGE?' is the one whom God sent F168 {to be} both a ruler and a deliverer with the help F169 of the angel who appeared to him in the thorn bush.

7:36 - [In Context|Original Greek]

7:37 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, 'GOD WILL RAISE UP FOR YOU A PROPHET LIKE F171 ME FROM YOUR BRETHREN.'

7:38 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"This is the one who was in the R340 congregation F172 in the wilderness together with the R341 angel who was speaking to him on Mount Sinai, and {who was} with our fathers; and he received living R342 oracles R343 to pass on to you.

7:39 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"Our fathers were unwilling to be obedient to him, but repudiated R344 him and in their hearts turned back to Egypt,

7:40 - [In Context|Original Greek]
SAYING R345 TO AARON, 'MAKE FOR US GODS WHO WILL GO BEFORE US; FOR THIS MOSES WHO LED US OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT--WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM.'

7:41 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"At that time they R346 made a calf F174 and brought a sacrifice to the idol, and were rejoicing in the R347 works of their hands.

7:42 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"But God turned R348 away and delivered them up to serve F175 the host F176 of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, 'IT WAS NOT TO ME THAT YOU OFFERED VICTIMS AND SACRIFICES FORTY R349 YEARS IN THE WILDERNESS, WAS IT, O HOUSE OF ISRAEL?

7:43 - [In Context|Original Greek]

7:44 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"Our fathers had the R350 tabernacle of testimony in the wilderness, just as He who spoke to Moses directed {him} to make it according R351 to the pattern which he had seen.

7:45 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"And having received it in their turn, our fathers brought R352 it in with Joshua F178 upon dispossessing the nations F179 whom God drove out before our fathers, until the time of David.

7:46 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"{David} found favor in God's sight, and asked R353 that he might find a dwelling place for the God F180 of Jacob.

7:47 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"But it was Solomon R354 who built a house for Him.

7:48 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"However, the R355 Most High does not dwell in {houses} made by {human} hands; as the prophet says:

7:49 - [In Context|Original Greek]
'HEAVEN IS MY THRONE, AND EARTH IS THE FOOTSTOOL OF MY FEET; WHAT KIND OF HOUSE WILL YOU BUILD FOR ME?' says the Lord, 'OR WHAT PLACE IS THERE FOR MY REPOSE?

7:50 - [In Context|Original Greek]
'WAS IT NOT MY HAND WHICH MADE ALL THESE THINGS?'

7:51 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"You men who are stiff-necked R356 and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did.

7:52 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"Which one of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who had previously announced the coming of the R357 Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you R358 have now become;

7:53 - [In Context|Original Greek]
you who received the law as ordained R359 by angels, and {yet} did not keep it."

7:54 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Now when they heard this, they were cut R360 to the quick, and they {began} gnashing their teeth at him.

7:55 - [In Context|Original Greek]
But being full R361 of the Holy Spirit, he gazed R362 intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at R363 the right hand of God;

7:56 - [In Context|Original Greek]
and he said, "Behold, I see the heavens R364 opened up and the R365 Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."

7:57 - [In Context|Original Greek]
But they cried out with a loud voice, and covered their ears and rushed at him with one impulse.

7:58 - [In Context|Original Greek]
When they had driven R366 him out of the city, they {began} stoning {him;} and the R367 witnesses laid R368 aside their robes at the feet of a R369 young man named Saul.

7:59 - [In Context|Original Greek]
They went on stoning Stephen as he called R370 on {the Lord} and said, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!"

7:60 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Then falling R371 on his knees, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do R372 not hold this sin against them!" Having said this, he fell F181 R373 asleep.

8:1 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Saul R374 was in hearty agreement with putting him to death. And on that day a great persecution began F182 against the R375 church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered R376 throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, R377 except the apostles.

8:2 - [In Context|Original Greek]
{Some} devout men buried Stephen, and made loud lamentation over him.

8:3 - [In Context|Original Greek]
But Saul R378 {began} ravaging the church, entering house after house, and dragging R379 off men and women, he would put them in prison.

8:4 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Therefore, those who R380 had been scattered went about preaching F183 R381 the word.

8:5 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Philip R382 went down to the city of Samaria and {began} proclaiming Christ F184 to them.

8:6 - [In Context|Original Greek]
The crowds with one accord were giving attention to what was said by Philip, as they heard and saw the signs F185 which he was performing.

8:7 - [In Context|Original Greek]
For {in the case of} many who had unclean R383 spirits, they were coming out {of them} shouting with a loud voice; and many who had been paralyzed R384 and lame were healed.

8:8 - [In Context|Original Greek]
So there was much R385 rejoicing in that city.

8:9 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Now there was a man named Simon, who formerly was practicing magic R386 in the city and astonishing the people of Samaria, claiming R387 to be someone great;

8:10 - [In Context|Original Greek]
and they all, from smallest to greatest, were giving attention to him, saying, "This man is what is called the Great Power of God."

8:11 - [In Context|Original Greek]
And they were giving him attention because he had for a long time astonished them with his magic R388 arts.

8:12 - [In Context|Original Greek]
But when they believed Philip preaching R389 the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized, R390 men and women alike.

8:13 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Even Simon himself believed; and after being baptized, he continued on with Philip, and as he observed signs R391 and great R392 miracles taking place, he was constantly amazed.

8:14 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Now when the R393 apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter R394 and John,

8:15 - [In Context|Original Greek]
who came down and prayed for them that R395 they might receive the Holy Spirit.

8:16 - [In Context|Original Greek]
For He had not R396 yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized R397 in F186 the name of the Lord Jesus.

8:17 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Then they {began} R398 laying their hands on them, and they were receiving R399 the Holy Spirit.

8:18 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was bestowed through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money,

8:19 - [In Context|Original Greek]
saying, "Give this authority to me as well, so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit."

8:20 - [In Context|Original Greek]
But Peter said to him, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain R400 the gift of God with money!

8:21 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"You have no R401 part or portion in this matter, F187 for your heart is not right R402 before God.

8:22 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray the Lord that, if R403 possible, the intention of your heart may be forgiven you.

8:23 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the R404 bondage F188 of iniquity."

8:24 - [In Context|Original Greek]
But Simon answered and said, "Pray to the Lord for me yourselves, so that nothing of what you have said may come upon me."

8:25 - [In Context|Original Greek]
So, when they had solemnly testified R405 and spoken the R406 word of the Lord, they started back to Jerusalem, and were preaching R407 the gospel to many villages of the Samaritans. R408

8:26 - [In Context|Original Greek]
But an R409 angel of the Lord spoke to Philip R410 saying, "Get up and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza." R411 (This is a desert {road.})

8:27 - [In Context|Original Greek]
So he got up and went; and there R412 was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure; and he had R413 come to Jerusalem to worship,

8:28 - [In Context|Original Greek]
and he was returning and sitting in his chariot, F189 and was reading the prophet Isaiah.

8:29 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Then the R414 Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot." F190

8:30 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?"

8:31 - [In Context|Original Greek]
And he said, "Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

8:32 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Now the passage of Scripture which he was reading was this: "HE WAS LED AS A SHEEP TO SLAUGHTER; AND AS A LAMB BEFORE ITS SHEARER IS SILENT, SO HE DOES NOT OPEN HIS MOUTH.

8:33 - [In Context|Original Greek]
"IN HUMILIATION HIS JUDGMENT WAS TAKEN AWAY; WHO WILL RELATE F191 HIS GENERATION? F192 FOR HIS LIFE IS REMOVED FROM THE EARTH."

8:34 - [In Context|Original Greek]
The eunuch answered Philip and said, "Please {tell me,} of whom does the prophet say this? Of himself or of someone else?"

8:35 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Then Philip opened R415 his mouth, and beginning R416 from this Scripture he preached R417 Jesus to him.

8:36 - [In Context|Original Greek]
As they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch *said, "Look! Water! What R418 prevents me from being baptized?"

8:37 - [In Context|Original Greek]
[And Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."]

8:38 - [In Context|Original Greek]
And he ordered the chariot F193 to stop; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him.

8:39 - [In Context|Original Greek]
When they came up out of the water, the R419 Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; and the eunuch no longer saw him, but F194 went on his way rejoicing.

8:40 - [In Context|Original Greek]
But Philip found F195 himself at Azotus, F196 R420 and as he passed through he kept R421 preaching the gospel to all the cities until he came to Caesarea. R422

9:1 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Now R423 Saul, F197 still breathing R424 threats F198 and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,

9:2 - [In Context|Original Greek]
and asked for letters R425 from him to the R426 synagogues at Damascus, R427 so that if he found any belonging to the R428 Way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

9:3 - [In Context|Original Greek]
As he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly R429 a light from heaven flashed around him;

9:4 - [In Context|Original Greek]
and he R430 fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, R431 Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"

9:5 - [In Context|Original Greek]
And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" And He {said,} "I R432 am Jesus whom you are persecuting,

9:6 - [In Context|Original Greek]
but R433 get up and enter the city, and it R434 will be told you what you must do."

9:7 - [In Context|Original Greek]
The men who traveled with him stood R435 speechless, hearing R436 the voice F199 but seeing no one.

9:8 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Saul got up from the ground, and though R437 his eyes were open, he could F200 see nothing; and leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus. R438

9:9 - [In Context|Original Greek]
And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.

9:10 - [In Context|Original Greek]
Now there was a disciple at Damascus R439 named Ananias; R440 and the Lord said to him in a R441 vision, "Ananias." R442 And he said, "Here I am, Lord."

9:11 - [In Context|Original Greek]
And the Lord {said} to him, "Get R443 up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus R444 named Saul, for he is praying,

9:12 - [In Context|Original Greek]
and R445 he has seen in F201 a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay R446 his hands on him, so that he might regain his sight."

9:13 - [In Context|Original Greek]
But Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how R447 much harm he did to Your R448 saints F202 at Jerusalem;

9:14 - [In Context|Original Greek]
and here he has R449 authority from the chief priests to bind all who call R450 on Your name."

9:15 - [In Context|Original Greek]
But the Lord said to him, "Go, R451 for he R452 is a chosen instrument F203 of Mine, to bear My name before the R453 Gentiles and kings R454 and the sons of Israel;

9:16 - [In Context|Original Greek]
for R455 I R456 will show him how much he must suffer for My name's sake."

9:17 - [In Context|Original Greek]
So Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying R457 his hands on him said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled R458 with the Holy Spirit."

9:18 - [In Context|Original Greek]
And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he regained his sight, and he got up and was baptized;

9:19 - [In Context|Original Greek]
and he took food and was strengthened.

9:20 - [In Context|Original Greek]
and immediately he {began} to proclaim Jesus in R459 the synagogues, saying, F204 "He is the R460 Son of God."

9:21 - [In Context|Original Greek]
All those hearing him continued to be amazed, and were saying, "Is this not he who in Jerusalem destroyed R461 those who called R462 on this name, and {who} had come here for the purpose of bringing them bound before the chief priests?"

9:22 - [In Context|Original Greek]
But Saul kept increasing in strength and confounding the Jews who lived at Damascus by proving that this {Jesus} is the Christ. F205
