9:24 - [In Context|Original Greek] but their R465 plot became known to Saul. They R466 were also watching the gates day and night so that they might put him to death;
9:25 - [In Context|Original Greek] but his disciples took him by night and let him down through {an opening in} the wall, lowering him in a large basket.
9:26 - [In Context|Original Greek] When R467 he came to Jerusalem, he was trying to associate with the disciples; but F206 they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
9:27 - [In Context|Original Greek] But Barnabas R468 took hold of him and brought him to the apostles and described to them how he had seen R469 the Lord on the road, and that He had talked to him, and how at R470 Damascus he had spoken R471 out boldly in the name of Jesus.

9:34 - [In Context|Original Greek] Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; get up and make your bed." Immediately he got up.

9:36 - [In Context|Original Greek] Now in Joppa R484 there was a disciple named Tabitha (which translated {in Greek} is called Dorcas); F213 this woman was abounding with deeds of kindness and charity which she continually did.
9:37 - [In Context|Original Greek] And it happened at F214 that time that she fell sick and died; and when they had washed her body, they laid it in an upper R485 room.
9:38 - [In Context|Original Greek] Since Lydda was near Joppa, R486 the R487 disciples, having heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him, "Do not delay in coming to us."
9:39 - [In Context|Original Greek] So Peter arose and went with them. When he arrived, they brought him into the upper R488 room; and all the widows R489 stood beside him, weeping and showing all the tunics F215 and garments that Dorcas used to make while she was with them.
9:40 - [In Context|Original Greek] But Peter sent R490 them all out and knelt R491 down and prayed, and turning to the body, he said, "Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

10:1 - [In Context|Original Greek] Now {there was} a man at Caesarea R498 named Cornelius, a centurion of what was called R499 the Italian cohort, F217
10:2 - [In Context|Original Greek] a devout man and one R500 who feared God with all his household, and gave R501 many alms F218 to the {Jewish} people and prayed to God continually.
10:3 - [In Context|Original Greek] About the R502 ninth F219 hour of the day he clearly saw in R503 a vision an R504 angel of God who had {just} come in and said to him, "Cornelius!"
10:4 - [In Context|Original Greek] And fixing R505 his gaze on him and being much alarmed, he said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers and alms F220 have R506 ascended as R507 a memorial before God.
10:5 - [In Context|Original Greek] "Now dispatch {some} men to Joppa R508 and send for a man {named} Simon, who is also called Peter;
10:6 - [In Context|Original Greek] he is staying with a tanner {named} Simon, R509 whose house is by the sea."
10:7 - [In Context|Original Greek] When the angel who was speaking to him had left, he summoned two of his servants F221 and a devout soldier of those who were his personal attendants,
10:8 - [In Context|Original Greek] and after he had explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa. R510
10:9 - [In Context|Original Greek] On the next day, as they were on their way and approaching the city, Peter R511 went up on the R512 housetop about the R513 sixth F222 hour to pray.
10:10 - [In Context|Original Greek] But he became hungry and was desiring to eat; but while they were making preparations, he fell R514 into a trance;
10:11 - [In Context|Original Greek] and he *saw the R515 sky F223 opened up, and an object F224 like a great sheet coming down, lowered by four corners to the ground,
10:12 - [In Context|Original Greek] and there were in it all {kinds of} four-footed animals and crawling F225 creatures of the earth and birds of the air. F226
10:13 - [In Context|Original Greek] A voice came to him, "Get up, Peter, kill F227 and eat!"
10:14 - [In Context|Original Greek] But Peter said, "By no means, Lord, R516 for I R517 have never eaten anything unholy F228 and unclean."
10:15 - [In Context|Original Greek] Again a voice {came} to him a second time, "What God has cleansed, no {longer} consider unholy." F229
10:16 - [In Context|Original Greek] This happened three times, and immediately the object F230 was taken up into the sky. F231
10:17 - [In Context|Original Greek] Now while Peter was greatly perplexed in mind F232 as to what the R518 vision which he had seen might be, behold, the R519 men who had been sent by Cornelius, having asked directions for Simon's house, appeared at the gate;
10:18 - [In Context|Original Greek] and calling out, they were asking whether Simon, who was also called Peter, was staying there.
10:19 - [In Context|Original Greek] While Peter was reflecting on the R520 vision, the R521 Spirit said to him, "Behold, three F233 men are looking for you.
10:20 - [In Context|Original Greek] "But get up, go downstairs and accompany R522 them without F234 misgivings, for I have sent them Myself."
10:21 - [In Context|Original Greek] Peter went down to the men and said, "Behold, I am the one you are looking for; what is the reason for which you have come?"
10:22 - [In Context|Original Greek] They said, "Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God-fearing R523 man well spoken of by the entire nation of the Jews, was R524 {divinely} directed by a holy R525 angel to send for you {to come} to his house and hear a F235 R526 message from you."
10:23 - [In Context|Original Greek] So he invited them in and gave them lodging.
10:24 - [In Context|Original Greek] On the following day he entered Caesarea. R527 Now Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.
10:25 - [In Context|Original Greek] When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell at his feet and worshiped F236 R528 {him.}
10:26 - [In Context|Original Greek] But Peter raised him up, saying, "Stand up; I too am {just} a man."
10:27 - [In Context|Original Greek] As he talked with him, he entered and *found many R529 people assembled.
10:28 - [In Context|Original Greek] And he said to them, "You yourselves know how unlawful R530 it is for a man who is a Jew to associate with a foreigner or to visit him; and {yet} God R531 has shown me that I should not call any man unholy F237 or unclean.
10:29 - [In Context|Original Greek] "That is why I came without even raising any objection when I was sent for. So I ask for what reason you have sent for me."
10:30 - [In Context|Original Greek] Cornelius said, "Four days ago to this hour, I was praying in my house during the R532 ninth F238 hour; and behold, a R533 man stood before me in shining garments,
10:31 - [In Context|Original Greek] and he *said, 'Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your alms F239 have been remembered before God.
10:32 - [In Context|Original Greek] 'Therefore send to Joppa R534 and invite Simon, who is also called Peter, to come to you; he is staying at the house of Simon {the} tanner by the sea.'
10:33 - [In Context|Original Greek] "So I sent for you immediately, and you have been F240 kind enough to come. Now then, we are all here present before God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord."
10:34 - [In Context|Original Greek] Opening R535 his mouth, Peter said: "I most certainly understand {now} that God R536 is not one to show partiality,
10:35 - [In Context|Original Greek] but in R537 every nation the man who fears F241 R538 Him and does F242 what is right is welcome to Him.
10:36 - [In Context|Original Greek] "The word which He sent to the sons of Israel, preaching R539 peace F243 R540 through Jesus Christ (He is Lord R541 of all)--
10:37 - [In Context|Original Greek] you yourselves know the thing which took place throughout all Judea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism which John proclaimed.
10:38 - [In Context|Original Greek] "{You know of} Jesus R542 of Nazareth, how God anointed R543 Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and F245 R544 {how} He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God R545 was with Him.
10:39 - [In Context|Original Greek] "We are witnesses R546 of all the things He did both in the land F246 of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They also put R547 Him to death by hanging Him on a cross. F247

10:41 - [In Context|Original Greek] not R548 to all the people, but to witnesses R549 who were chosen beforehand by God, {that is,} to us who R550 ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.
10:42 - [In Context|Original Greek] "And He ordered R551 us to preach F248 to the people, and solemnly to testify R552 that this is the One who has been appointed R553 by God as Judge R554 of the living and the dead.
10:43 - [In Context|Original Greek] "Of Him all R555 the prophets bear witness that through His R556 name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins."
10:44 - [In Context|Original Greek] While Peter was still speaking these words, the R557 Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. F249
10:45 - [In Context|Original Greek] All R558 the circumcised F250 believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured R559 out on the Gentiles also.
10:46 - [In Context|Original Greek] For they were hearing them speaking R560 with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered,
10:47 - [In Context|Original Greek] "Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have R561 received the Holy Spirit just as we {did,} can he?"
10:48 - [In Context|Original Greek] And he ordered R562 them to be baptized in R563 the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.

11:3 - [In Context|Original Greek] saying, "You went F252 to uncircumcised men and ate with them."
11:4 - [In Context|Original Greek] But Peter began {speaking} and F253 {proceeded} to explain to them in R566 orderly sequence, saying,
11:5 - [In Context|Original Greek] "I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a R567 vision, an object F254 coming down like a great sheet lowered by four corners from the F255 sky; and it came right down to me,
11:6 - [In Context|Original Greek] and when I had fixed my gaze on it and was observing it I F256 saw the four-footed animals of the earth and the wild beasts and the crawling F257 creatures and the birds of the air. F258
11:7 - [In Context|Original Greek] "I also heard a voice saying to me, 'Get up, Peter; kill F259 and eat.'
11:8 - [In Context|Original Greek] "But I said, 'By no means, Lord, for nothing unholy F260 or unclean has ever entered my mouth.'
11:9 - [In Context|Original Greek] "But a voice from heaven answered a second time, 'What God has cleansed, no longer consider F261 unholy.'
11:10 - [In Context|Original Greek] "This happened three times, and everything was drawn back up into the F262 sky.
11:11 - [In Context|Original Greek] "And behold, at that moment three men appeared at the house in which we were {staying,} having been sent to me from Caesarea. R568

11:13 - [In Context|Original Greek] "And he reported to us how he had seen the angel standing F264 in his house, and saying, 'Send to Joppa and have Simon, who is also called Peter, brought here;

11:15 - [In Context|Original Greek] "And as I began to speak, the R573 Holy Spirit fell upon them just as R574 {He did} upon us at the beginning.
11:16 - [In Context|Original Greek] "And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, 'John R575 baptized with water, but you will be baptized with F265 the Holy Spirit.'
11:17 - [In Context|Original Greek] "Therefore if God R576 gave to them the same gift as {He gave} to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who R577 was I that I could stand F266 in God's way?"
11:18 - [In Context|Original Greek] When they heard this, they quieted F267 down and glorified R578 God, saying, "Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance R579 {that leads} to life."
11:19 - [In Context|Original Greek] So R580 then those who were scattered because of the persecution F268 that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way to F269 Phoenicia R581 and Cyprus R582 and Antioch, R583 speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone.

11:21 - [In Context|Original Greek] And the R589 hand of the Lord was with them, and a R590 large number who believed turned to the Lord.
