So John the Baptizer came and was baptizing people in the desert area. He told the people to be baptized F5 to show they wanted to change their lives. Then their sins would be forgiven.

F1: Good News   The news that God has made a way for people to have their sins forgiven and live with him forever.
F2: the Son of God   Some Greek copies omit these words.
F3: prophet   A person that spoke for God. Sometimes a prophet told things that would happen in the future.
F4: helper   Literally, "messenger."
F5: baptize(d)   A Greek word meaning to immerse, dip, or bury a person or thing briefly under water.
