Book of Daniel
Chapter 6
6:1 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] It pleased * (8754) Darius to set (8684) over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be (8748) over the whole kingdom;
6:2 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might (8748) give (8751) accounts unto them, and the king should have (8748) no damage (8752).
6:3 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Then this Daniel was (8754) preferred (8723) above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought (8754) to set (8682) him over the whole realm.
6:4 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Then the presidents and princes sought * (8754) (8750) to find (8682) occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could (8750) find (8682) none occasion nor fault (8752); forasmuch as he was faithful (8683), neither was there any error or fault (8752) found (8728) in him.
6:5 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Then said (8750) these men, We shall not find (8684) any occasion against this Daniel, except we find (8681) it against him concerning the law of his God.
6:6 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Then these presidents and princes assembled together (8684) to the king, and said (8750) thus unto him, King Darius, live (8747) for ever.
6:7 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together (8724) to establish (8742) a royal statute, and to make a firm (8742) decree, that whosoever shall ask (8748) a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast (8729) into the den of lions.
6:8 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Now, O king, establish (8681) the decree, and sign (8748) the writing, that it be not changed (8682), according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth (8748) not.

6:10 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Now when Daniel knew (8754) that the writing was signed (8752), he went (8754) into his house; and his windows being open (8759) in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled (8750) upon his knees three times a day, and prayed (8743), and gave thanks (8683) before his God, as he did * (8754) (8751) aforetime * *.
6:11 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Then these men assembled (8684), and found (8684) Daniel praying (8750) and making supplication (8723) before his God.
6:12 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Then they came near (8754), and spake (8750) before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed (8754) a decree, that every man that shall ask (8748) a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast (8729) into the den of lions? The king answered (8750) and said (8750), The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth (8748) not.
6:13 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Then answered (8754) they and said (8750) before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth * (8754) not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed (8754), but maketh (8750) his petition three times a day.
6:14 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Then the king, when he heard (8754) these words, was sore displeased (8754) with himself, and set (8754) his heart on Daniel to deliver (8756) him: and he laboured * (8754) (8723) till the going down of the sun to deliver (8682) him.

6:20 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] And when he came (8749) to the den, he cried (8754) with a lamentable (8750) voice unto Daniel: and the king spake (8750) and said (8750) to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest (8750) continually, able (8754) to deliver (8756) thee from the lions?
6:21 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Then said (8745) Daniel unto the king, O king, live (8747) for ever.
6:22 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] My God hath sent (8754) his angel, and hath shut (8754) the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt (8745) me: forasmuch as * * before him innocency was found (8728) in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done (8754) no hurt.
6:23 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Then was the king exceeding glad (8754) for him, and commanded (8754) that they should take Daniel up (8682) out of the den. So Daniel was taken up (8717) out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found (8728) upon him, because he believed (8684) in his God.
6:24 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] And the king commanded (8754), and they brought (8684) those men which had accused * (8754) Daniel, and they cast (8754) them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery * (8754) of them, and brake all their bones in pieces (8684) or ever they came (8754) at the bottom of the den.
6:25 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] Then king Darius wrote (8754) unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell (8748) in all the earth; Peace be multiplied (8748) unto you.
6:26 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] I * * make (8752) a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble * (8748) and fear (8751) before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed (8721), and his dominion shall be even unto the end.
6:27 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] He delivereth (8757) and rescueth (8683), and he worketh (8751) signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered (8758) Daniel from the power of the lions.
6:28 - [In Context|Original Hebrew] So this Daniel prospered (8684) in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
