1 Then what advantage F45 has the Jew? Or what is the benefit of circumcision? 2 Great in every respect. First of all, that they R104 were entrusted with the oracles R105 of God. 3 What then? If some R106 did F46 not believe, their unbelief F47 will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it? 4 May R107 it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man {be found} a R108 liar, as it is written, "THAT YOU MAY BE JUSTIFIED IN YOUR WORDS, AND PREVAIL WHEN YOU ARE F48 JUDGED." 5 But if our unrighteousness demonstrates F49R109 the righteousness of God, what R110 shall we say? The God who inflicts wrath is not unrighteous, is He? (I am speaking in human terms.) 6 May R111 it never be! For otherwise, how will God R112 judge the world? 7 But if through my lie the R113 truth of God abounded to His glory, why R114 am I also still being judged as a sinner? 8 And why not {say} (as we are slanderously reported and as some claim that we say), "Let us do evil that good may come"? Their F50 condemnation is just. 9 What then? Are F51R115 we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews R116 and Greeks R117 are all R118 under sin; 10 as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; 11 THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; 12 ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE." 13 "THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE, WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING," "THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS"; 14 "WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS"; 15 "THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD, 16 DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS, 17 AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN." 18 "THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES."
19 Now we know that whatever the Law R119 says, it speaks to those R120 who are under F52 the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all R121 the world may become accountable to God; 20 because by R122 the works of F53 the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through F54R123 the Law {comes} the knowledge of sin. 21 But now apart from F55 the Law {the} R124 righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed R125 by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even {the} righteousness R126 of God through faith R127 in R128 Jesus Christ for all R129 those who F56 believe; for there R130 is no distinction; 23 for all have F57R131 sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by R132 His grace through the R133 redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a R134 propitiation F58 in F59R135 His blood through faith. {This was} to demonstrate His righteousness, because F60 in the forbearance R136 of God He passed R137 over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, {I say,} of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has F61 faith in Jesus. 27 Where then is boasting? R138 It is excluded. By what R139 kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. 28 For F62 we R140 maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of F63 the Law. 29 Or is R141 God {the God} of Jews only? Is He not {the God} of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since indeed God R142 who R143 will justify the circumcised F64 by F65 faith and the uncircumcised F66 through faith is R144 one. 31 Do we then nullify the F67 Law through faith? May R145 it never be! On the contrary, we establish R146 the Law.

1 What then shall we say that Abraham, our F68 forefather according R147 to the flesh, has found? 2 For if Abraham was justified by F69 works, he has something to boast about, but not R148 before F70 God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS." 4 Now to the one who works, R149 his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. 5 But to the one who does not work, but believes R150 in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, 6 just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: 7 "BLESSED ARE THOSE WHOSE LAWLESS DEEDS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN, AND WHOSE SINS HAVE BEEN COVERED. 8 "BLESSED IS THE MAN WHOSE SIN THE LORD WILL NOT TAKE R151 INTO ACCOUNT."
9 Is this blessing then on the F71R152 circumcised, or on the F72 uncircumcised also? For we R153 say, "FAITH WAS CREDITED TO ABRAHAM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS." 10 How then was it credited? While he was circumcised, F73 or uncircumcised? F74 Not while circumcised, F73 but while uncircumcised; F7411 and he received R154 the sign of circumcision, a R155 seal of the righteousness of the faith which he F75 had while uncircumcised, so that he might be the R156 father of all R157 who believe without being circumcised, that righteousness might be credited to them, 12 and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also follow in the steps of the faith of our father Abraham which he F76 had while uncircumcised. 13 For the R158 promise to Abraham or to his descendants F77 that R159 he would be heir of the world was not through F78 the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if R160 those who are of F79 the Law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise is nullified; 15 for the R161 Law brings about wrath, but where R162 there is no law, there also is no violation. 16 For this reason {it is} by F80 faith, in order that {it may be} in accordance with grace, R163 so that the promise will be guaranteed to all R164 the descendants, F81 not only to those F82 who are of the Law, but also to those F82R165 who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the R166 father of us all,
17 (as it is written, "A FATHER OF MANY NATIONS HAVE I MADE YOU") in the presence of Him whom he believed, {even} God, who R167 gives life to the dead and calls F83R168 into being that R169 which does not exist. 18 In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become a R170 father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, "SO SHALL YOUR DESCENDANTS F84 BE." 19 Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as R171 good as dead since he R172 was about a hundred years old, and the R173 deadness of Sarah's womb; 20 yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving R174 glory to God, 21 and being R175 fully assured that what R176 God had promised, He was able also to perform. 22 Therefore IT R177 WAS ALSO CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.
23 Now not R178 for his sake only was it written that it was credited to him, 24 but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those who R179 believe in Him who raised R180 Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 {He} who was delivered R181 over because of our transgressions, and was raised R182 because of our justification.

1 Therefore, R183 having been justified by faith, we F85R184 have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have obtained R185 our introduction by faith into this grace in R186 which we stand; and we F86 exult in hope of the glory of God. 3 And R187 not only this, but we F87 also exult R188 in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; R1894 and perseverance, R190 proven R191 character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does R192 not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured R193 out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
6 For while we were still helpless, R194 at R195 the right time Christ R196 died for the ungodly. 7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though F88 perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8 But God demonstrates R197 His R198 own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ R199 died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by F89R200 His blood, we shall be saved from R201 the wrath {of God} through Him. 10 For if while we were enemies R202 we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by F90R203 His life. 11 And R204 not only this, but F91 we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the R205 reconciliation. 12 Therefore, just as through one R206 man sin entered into the world, and death R207 through sin, and so R208 death spread to all men, because all sinned-- 13 for until F92 the Law sin was in the world, but sin R209 is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in R210 the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type F93R211 of Him who was to come. 15 But the F94 free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the R212 one the R213 many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the R214 grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. 16 The gift is not like {that which came} through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the R215 judgment {arose} from one {transgression} resulting F95 in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift {arose} from many transgressions resulting F96 in justification. 17 For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through R216 the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign R217 in life through the One, Jesus Christ. 18 So then as through one R218 transgression there F97 resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act R219 of righteousness there F98 resulted justification R220 of life to all men. 19 For as through the one man's disobedience the R221 many were R222 made sinners, even so through the R223 obedience of the One the R224 many will be made righteous. 20 The F99R225 Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace R226 abounded all the more, 21 so that, as sin R227 reigned in death, even so grace R228 would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 What R229 shall we say then? Are we to continue R230 in sin so that grace may increase? 2 May R231 it never be! How shall we who died R232 to sin still live in it? 3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized R233 into Christ R234 Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried R235 with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised R236 from the dead through the glory R237 of the Father, so we too might walk in newness R238 of life. 5 For if R239 we have become united F100 with {Him} in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be {in F101 the likeness} of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old R240 self F102 was crucified R241 with {Him,} in order that our body R242 of sin might be done F103 away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for he R243 who has died is freed F104 from sin. 8 Now if R244 we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised R245 from the dead, is F105 never to die again; death R246 no longer is master over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Even so consider yourselves to be dead R247 to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign R248 in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13 and do not go on presenting R249 the F106 members of your body to sin {as} instruments F107 of unrighteousness; but present R250 yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members {as} instruments F107 of righteousness to God. 14 For sin R251 shall not be R252 master over you, for you R253 are not under law but under R254 grace. 15 What then? Shall R255 we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May R256 it never be! 16 Do you not know R257 that when you present yourselves to someone {as} slaves R258 for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin R259 resulting F108 in death, or of obedience resulting F109 in righteousness? 17 But thanks R260 be to God that though F110 you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form R261 of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and having been freed R262 from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I R263 am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as R264 you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting F111 in {further} lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting F112 in sanctification. 20 For when R265 you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 Therefore what benefit F113R266 were you then deriving F114 from F115 the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death. R26722 But now having been freed R268 from sin and enslaved R269 to God, you derive F116 your benefit, F117R270 resulting F118 in sanctification, and the R271 outcome, eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin R272 is death, but the free gift of God is eternal R273 life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
